This programme studies and promotes connections between an area&#8217;s geological heritage and its natural, cultural, and intangible heritage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>In these areas, the history of humanity and the history of the Earth are closely related. They may also have archaeological, ecological, historical, or cultural significance.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of UNESCO Global Geoparks is to reconnect humans to the Earth we live on by showcasing 4.6 billion years of geological history that have shaped, and continue to shape, all aspects of the inhabitants&#8217; lives.
